Former Chiefs S Tyrann Mathieu Lands Week 1 NFL Job

As reported by the YouTube NFL channel on X (formerly known as Twitter), ex-Kansas City safety Tyrann Mathieu is going to be on the broadcast team for YouTube's first-ever broadcast. It's a unique opportunity for Mathieu and the network, allowing a player who has experience with the organization to offer some insight for his former team.

Mathieu spent three years with the Chiefs, notching a pair of All-Pro bids while simultaneously being a leader in the city with plenty of exciting charitable efforts.

This is a player whom the city loves and should remember fondly. He had 213 tackles, 13 interceptions, and three sacks during his tenure. At the very least, Mathieu represented the "fight-first" attitude that Kansas City hoped to embody. He'll always be beloved, even if the rest of his career didn't go as planned.

That he'll be on the YouTube broadcast team is interesting to say the least. A three-time Pro Bowler deserves to be showered with adoration, and his retirement lends itself to a new venture. Mathieu would be a fantastic broadcaster.

Kansas City obviously needs to focus on its own players, but it's still nice to recognize the people who made the 2019 squad such an invaluable part of the city's history.
