Jizzle James, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, is no longer a member of the college basketball program at the University of Cincinnati. He was removed from the team about a month ago.

Nobody seems to know why…

This matter was handled internally after a bizarre sequence of dramatic events. The future of James’ college basketball career is now up in the air so the G-League might be his only remaining option.

Who is Jizzle James?

Edgerrin James Jr., better known as Jizzle, committed to play at Cincinnati as a four-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2023. He ranked as one of the 10 best players at his position.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound point guard played two years with the Bearcats. James averaged 8.8 points, 2.1 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per game off of the bench as a freshman. He started every single game as a sophomore and averaged 12.7 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 27.1 minutes.

James was expected to be one of the biggest contributors for his team during the 2025-26 season… until things started getting super weird over the last 30-60 days…

Why did Cincinnati remove him from the college basketball program?

Rumors first started to swirl in the middle of July that James was not going to play for the Bearcats as a junior. He later posted a pair of screenshots to Instagram that seemed to confirm his departure.

The first image appeared to be a sarcastic shot at his team and the coaching staff. It referenced “the movement,” which was/is one of Cincinnati’s mottos.

And then James posted the following image:

I do not know what it means. Nor can I identify the other involved party. However, I think it was a conversation between the player and his agent.

James’ first post alluded to his removal from the Bearcats’ program. His second post alluded to the idea that nobody else wanted him in the transfer portal so he made an empty threat regarding the G-League.

That is my interpretation, at least.

That was on July 25. Jizzle James later hinted at his return to Cincinnati on Aug. 13.

Except he will not be back. Head coach Wes Miller confirmed on Aug. 19 that James is out.

“Jizzle James has been dealing with personal issues throughout the summer,” he said in a statement. “We removed him from the team last month. He is currently not a member of our basketball program. As this is a personal matter, I will have no further comment at this time.”

There are two main things to note here. First and foremost, the word “currently” seems to leave the door open. Secondly, Miller did not expand further on these “personal matters” so we don’t know what happened.

All we know is that Jizzle James was removed from the University of Cincinnati basketball program in July around the same time he made a bunch of cryptic posts on social media. It is all very strange.
