Denver Broncos edge-rusher Nik Bonitto is in line for a big raise.
Now, it’s up to his agent and the Broncos to get a massive contract extension done.
The team has already paid Courtland Sutton and Zach Allen this summer, and Bonitto should be next on the list. With the regular season looming, a new deal before then would be nice for both sides.
Bonitto met with the media after practice on Tuesday and was asked how the talks are going between the franchise and his representation.

“Yeah, I mean, they’re going well. I feel like there’s been good communication on both sides. I think it’s just my agent, I feel like he’s one of the best in the game. I feel like I’ve got to trust what he’s doing and knowing how they feel about me upstairs, I feel like something will get done. It’s just a matter of when and until then I’ve just got to keep doing me,” Bonitto said.
Nik Bonitto was awesome in 2024, registering 13.5 sacks and scoring memorable touchdowns against both the Colts and Browns. He’s made a little more than $3 million in his NFL career, but could be in line for a contract worth more than $100 million.
He feels like the communication from the Broncos has been solid throughout, and no one is rushing anything.
“I feel like they’ve pretty much through the whole process, like kept me a priority, knowing they want to extend me, they want me here. It’s just about when they want to get it done and when we’re ready,” Nik Bonitto said.
The former second-round pick has said all the right things over the last couple of months, and he’s got the correct attitude about where things currently stand.
“At the end of the day, I’m still under contract for another year, so yeah I would like to get it done, but that’s like the least of my worries, honestly. I just want to compete for a championship this year, do all the things that we have to out to do as a team, as a defense,” Bonitto said.
If feels like it’s a matter of when, not if, on a contract extension for Nik Bonitto. And if there was a lot of drama, he wouldn’t have been made available at the podium.
Hopefully, there’s good news to report sooner rather than later.
