John Wall officially announced his retirement from the NBA on Tuesday morning, closing the book on a career that spanned more than a decade.

Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, spent his first nine seasons with the Washington Wizards before finishing with short stints on the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers. His final NBA appearances came during the 2022-23 season with the Clippers, when he averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 assists.

On Tuesday, Bleacher Report highlighted Wall’s retirement with a striking stat on social media.

“Paul George is the last man standing from the 2010 (NBA Draft) class,” the outlet wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

That note put Wall’s retirement into perspective. The 2010 class featured 60 selections and several former All-Stars, including Wall, George, DeMarcus Cousins, and Gordon Hayward. Now, only George remains active.

George, 35, is still producing at a high level. In his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers, he averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists during the 2024-25 campaign.

For Wall, the retirement announcement ends a career that included five All-Star appearances, an All-NBA selection in 2017 and a reputation as one of the most explosive point guards of all time.

Wall’s former teammate Bradley Beal also sounded off Tuesday after the former All-NBA point guard announced his retirement.

“Congratulations to my brother @JohnWall on retiring from the NBA. Family 4L and one of the most elite, dominant, and game-changing figures the league has ever seen,” Beal wrote. “Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and pushing me to be the best I can be. There is no BB without Dub! Thank you, brother! Enjoy the next chapter!”
