49ers lose quarterback to knee injury

The San Francisco 49ers are looking to get things back on track and make the playoffs this season after their entire 2024 season was derailed by injuries from start to finish. The Niners are getting some major contributors back into the mix, including 2023 offensive player of the year Christian McCaffrey.

Unfortunately, one of their quarterbacks has gone down with a knee injury, and San Francisco won’t be able to evaluate the pass thrower in their final preseason game of the year, according to one prominent league insider.

“49ers QB Mac Jones is out for the team’s preseason finale Saturday vs. the Chargers due to a knee sprain, per HC Kyle Shanahan. The team believes Jones should be ready for Week 1 of the regular season,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“I remember when the dopes from Boston said Mac was the heir to TB12. I wonder what they are up to now,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“What with all the injuries occurring can see pre-season games being cutback to only 2 instead of current 3 which used to be 4 – likely holding it back from happening owners get an extra game’s worth of ticket revenue from season ticket holders,” someone else added.

“Seems like Niners have a rash of injuries nearly every year..May want to evaluate your training programs,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Niners find a way to curb all of the injuries.
