The Seahawks are packing up and taking the team to the Midwest for one joint practice with the Green Bay Packers ahead of the two teams' preseason finale on Saturday.
"It is just one [practice]," coach Mike Macdonald said. "You do have to keep the timetable, but I think that is one of the reasons why we do just one practice. This is an opportunity for our ones and twos to be in this environment, practice against a good team, and get some great work in."
Last season, Seattle took part in its first joint practice with the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, after not having held a joint practice since 1991 when they practiced with the Atlanta Falcons. Macdonald said the ones will mostly likely not be playing in the last preseason game, so this joint practice will be important for them.
"It's just more so focused on ones are getting really meaningful reps," linebacker Ernest Jones IV said. "I think you get into preseason games and a lot of times you won't get enough reps of plays coming your way. I think in those joint practices you get a good look. A lot of things that are going to come your way, but just get another feel for another team, how they operate. So it's good. Just go scheme for scheme and see what's better."
