Green Bay Packers Fans’ 2025 Draft Darling to Miss Several Weeks with Sprained MCL

The Green Bay Packers, unfortunately, have not been able to make it through training camp and the 2025 NFL preseason unscathed. Second-year offensive lineman Travis Glover was lost for the season after suffering a shoulder injury that required surgery. Xavier McKinney and Dontayvion Wicks have not practiced at all in August after suffering soft tissue injuries, and Nate Hobbs needed to have his meniscus repaired in a minor procedure that, at least, will have him ready for the start of the regular season.

Jayden Reed, too, who has led the Packers in receptions in each of the past two seasons, is dealing with a sprained foot.

And, unfortunately, the injuries are not limited to the veteran players who come into each training camp with old injuries. Some of their rookies are dealing with some ailments as well.

Third-round wide receiver Savion Williams missed Green Bay’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a hamstring injury. He has yet to return to practice, but is expected to be ready to play come Week One of the 2025 NFL regular season.

Barryn Sorrell, though, the fourth round defensive end, is likely not going to be ready for the start of the regular season after suffering a sprained MCL against the Colts.

Rookie DL Barryn Sorrell’s knee injury is a sprained MCL. He said he does not think he will be out more than a few weeks so perhaps he won’t need an IR-designated to return spot.

Sorrell endeared himself to Packers fans on Day Three of the 2025 NFL Draft when he came out on stage after hearing his named called in the fourth round. Typically, only first round picks travel to the draft to appear on stage, but Sorrell explained it was always his dream to go out on stage when he got drafted, and so flew to Green Bay even though he knew he was probably a Day Three pick.

Now he will likely have to wait to make his regular season debut for the Packers.

Fans may recall that quarterback Jordan Love missed two weeks with a sprained MCL early last season, but probably came back earlier than he should have.

Keeping this in mind, it would not be surprising if Sorrell does not debut for the Packers until Week Two or Week Three this season. If they put him on injured reserve, he will have to sit out even longer.
