Aston Villa have until the end of the transfer window to bring in some new faces

Aston Villa drew 0-0 at home to Newcastle United over the weekend to start the new Premier League season. They weren’t able to find a winner against the Magpies and had to settle for a point. Defender Ezri Konsa was sent off in the second-half and will now serve a suspension.

Unai Emery has the chance to bring in some new faces before the end of the transfer window. He also has the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed. The market shuts on Monday 1st September at a slightly earlier time of 7pm.

Aston Villa should eye Yoane Wissa instead of Nicolas Jackson

Therefore, the Midlands outfit need to look elsewhere for reinforcements at the top end of the pitch. Step forward Brentford star Yoane Wissa, who is in limbo right now. He is keen to leave the Bees for a new challenge in his career somewhere else amid attention from Newcastle United. However, they aren’t letting him go, as per BBC Sport.

Wissa, 28, has been a key player for his current club over recent times and they face a serious battle to keep hold of him. They snapped him up back in 2021 and he has since become one of their most prized assets. He has scored 49 goals in 149 games in all competitions, 20 of which came in the last campaign.

Prior to his move to Brentford, he was a hit during his days in France with FC Lorient. He found the net on 37 occasions in 128 outings. The DR Congo international has also made 33 caps for his country to date, scoring six times.

Why Brentford’s Yoane Wissa would be ideal for Aston Villa

Brentford gem Wissa would be a perfect addition for Aston Villa. He is a proven performer at the top level and can score goals. In addition, he would give them more quality at the top end of the pitch.

It would be a blow for Newcastle if they weren’t able to get him. They have been chasing him for a while now but haven’t been able to strike an agreement with Brentford yet. That could open the door for Emery to swoop in and snatch him away from their rivals.

Wissa needs to leave the Bees to test himself at a higher level. Aston Villa would be able to offer him the platform to show what he can do in the Europa League. This is an important couple of weeks ahead for the player and it remains to be seen at this stage where he will end up next.

The forward would give Villa a different dimension going forward and would blend in well to their starting XI alongside players like Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and new boy Evann Guessand. They are back in action this weekend as they hunt for their first win. A trip to Brentford lies in store but Wissa seems unlikely to feature.
