'Going to be interesting': Ian Wright says there's something that will make Reijnders even more …

Ian Wright has shared what he thinks will help unlock Tijjani Reijnders’ potential at Manchester City over the coming weeks.

Tijjani Reijnders was the star of matchweek one in the Premier League, his heroics helping Manchester City hammer Wolves 4-0 on their own patch.

The summer signing from AC Milan played a big part in City’s opening goal before netting one himself and adding an assist for good measure.

However, Ian Wright believes fans have not yet seen the absolute best of Reijnders in a sky blue shirt.

Ian Wright backs Rodri to make Tijjani Reijnders ‘even more free’

Carrick was part of the post-match analysis team on The Weekend Wrap on Stan Sport, and he liked what he saw from Reijnders.

Rodri did not make the squad as he is recovering from a groin issue, and Wright believes the Spaniard’s return will help Reijnders flourish even more.

“It’s going to be interesting to see when Rodri comes back in there he will be even more free,” said Wright.

“He was picking up the ball everywhere and he can run with it, he can finish, we saw that.”

With Rodri in the starting XI, Reijnders could potentially be pushed further up, where he can cause even more havoc in the final third.

When Rodri is expected back for Manchester City

Ahead of City’s trip to Wolves, Pep Guardiola suggested that Rodri would be used sparingly this month, with a view to having him available after the international break.

“Rodri is so soon to come back but it is important his knee is perfect,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference.

“He played Juventus after six weeks in his leg and we try to avoid that now he needs to play minutes in training sessions.

“What we want for him is to come back and to take a step back that would not be good. In this dynamic you can’t get rhythm, it is so demanding.

“He’s made good training sessions and tomorrow he’s travelling. We will decide how many minutes.

“Hopefully he can play minutes in next games then after the international break every three days he can help us.”

The important thing is for City to build the right foundations and go into the international break on a high.

Then, should Rodri be fully fit after the break, it’ll be exciting to see how City fare with the return of the best player in the world.
