Alejandro Garnacho turning down decision to play with £86m star is another self-destructive move

Alejandro Garnacho has made the decision to turn down Bayern Munich. It could be a major mistake.

As the transfer window has gone on, it has become apparent that Alejandro Garnacho is totally fixated on landing a move to Chelsea.

What is it that attracts him to Chelsea? It could be the possible promise of a mega-long contract for the next 10 years?

It is more likely to be an immature desire to prove Manchester United wrong and post a picture on Instagram celebrating a goal against the Red Devils. But that’s just a sweeping assumption on our part.

What we do know is that Garnacho has turned down all other interest, including a new enquiry from German champions Bayern Munich, Fabrizio Romano reports.

Turning down Bayern Munich is a mistake

Alejandro Garnacho is likely to find out that during his career, clubs like Bayern Munich do not come knocking twice.

Acting impetuously at the end of last season and falling out with Ruben Amorim set the scene for Alejandro Garnacho’s potential Manchester United exit.

Instead of fighting for his spot, he is hell-bent on an exit, and Garnacho will likely make the biggest mistake of his career.

A potential move to Bayern Munich could have spun this all around.

Bayern are one of those rare clubs where success is almost guaranteed. Garnacho would likely have cruised towards a trophy in Germany, and could have boasted about proving United wrong after all.

Can he do it at Chelsea? Perhaps. But success there for any player is fleeting.

Just ask Nicolas Jackson, who last summer signed a long-term contract to 2033, and is now being put up for sale.

Garnacho might go there and get his moment against United. Maybe even win a trophy. But in 12 months time he will be cast aside for a new player.

Rejecting Bayern Munich is another self-destructive move from Garnacho, and he might not even get his move to Chelsea in any case.

The Blues and Manchester United are a long way apart in valuation, and United are under no pressure to cave in and sell for a ridiculously low price.

Garnacho could have flourished alongside Harry Kane

Top strikers should attract creative players, and Bayern Munich have one of the most reliable goalscorers in world football since his £86 million move in 2023.

Harry Kane has scored 86 goals in 97 games for Bayern Munich, while also laying on 23 assists himself.

Garnacho could have flourished playing alongside Kane, laying on the passes for the England international to score, and inflating his own assist numbers in the process.

This would have been the perfect way for Garnacho to catch the eye in a World Cup year. But just as he often does on the pitch, the winger is failing to see the bigger picture.

Instead he looks like he could miss out on Argentina’s squad altogether, axed from their upcoming qualifying matches.

With the move to Chelsea far from done, there is a risk Garnacho ends up playing under-21 football for United next season.

Snubbing Bayern is a major risk, and simply put, a very bad decision from a player who is becoming known for them.
