Chelsea could be about to agree a “very big” front-of-shirt sponsorship deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League side played the majority of last season without a primary shirt sponsor and have so far failed to agree a deal for the 2025-26 campaign.

Chelsea are looking to agree a £60million deal after holding talks with various interested parties on the back of their Club World Cup victory.

The Blues have faced front-of-shirt sponsorship issues for the best part of the past two campaigns.

They struck a £40million-a-year deal with Infinite Athlete in September 2023, but the agreement expired last summer.

Chelsea have made ‘very strange’ sponsor decision

This article contains exclusive comment fromStefan Borson, a former financial adviser to Man City.

Chelsea announced a short-term deal in April for DAMAC to appear on the front of their shirts for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

However, there was no sponsor on display for Enzo Maresca’s side’s goalless draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday (17 August).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “If they went the whole season without it, it would be very significant.

“I think it would be at least £60million if it went the whole season.

“But I’ll take them at their word that they’re about to sign something very big, and then there won’t be a hole and it’ll actually end up being £60million just for the front of the shirt if you take them at their word.

“It seems very strange to me that they haven’t done it yet.

“It doesn’t make a lot of sense that people were waiting for the outcome of the Club World Cup.

“It’s very easy to factor in what might happen in an individual tournament.

“That’s only one year of maybe four or five on the contract, so that in itself doesn’t sound very believable.

“They are adamant they’re about to do a very big deal, so we’ll see.”

Chelsea trigger £200m+ signing spree despite sponsor issues

The ongoing sponsorship issues haven’t prevented Chelsea from spending big in the transfer market again this summer.

Maresca’s side have spent around £240million on new additions, with Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Estavao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez all making the move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are set to play in the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League table last season.
