Star point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young, paid tribute to former NBA star John Wall on Tuesday. The former Washington Wizards star announced his retirement from basketball after 11 seasons in the league. The last team he played for was the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2022-23 season.

On X, Wall posted a video about his decision to step away from the game.

“I gave this game everything I had,” Wall posted on X.

Since suffering an Achilles tendon tear in 2018, Wall has never been the same player. He struggled to return to being a star. After his time in Washington, he played for the Houston Rockets and the Clippers.

Young Paid Tribute by Posting a GIF of Wall Dancing

Young honored Wall by posting a GIF of the five-time All-Star dancing to the song “Teach Me How To Dougie,” by the hip-hop group Cali Swag District. When the Wizards drafted the former Kentucky star, it was one of the hottest songs globally.

Wall would often get the crowd going with his dance moves. It was the perfect way to honor the star guard since he was a flashy player during his prime. His speed was unmatched and would often put on an aerial show for the fans.

Unfortunately for Young, he didn’t get a chance to face Wall at his best. According to the website LandOfBasketball.com, the two guards only faced each other two times. The Hawks guard won on both games, averaging 24.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and six assists.
