**Dietmar Hamann says Liverpool’s fullbacks were not good enough against Bournemouth on Friday for the Premier League opener.**
The Reds took a 2-0 lead thanks to a goal fro Hugo Ekitike and an assist for Cody Gakpo’s strike.
Then, Liverpool made two massive changes. Arne Slot took Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez off. Andy Robertson went to left-back and Endo replaced Frimpong at right-back.
Four minutes later, Antoine Semenyo scored the Cherries’ first goal and 13 minutes later, he scoreed the equaliser. Slot took Alexis Mac Allister and Hugo Ekitike off for Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez right before the second goal.
Ultimately, Federico Chiesa rescued the three points with this last gasp winner.
It’s not fair to place any blame on Kerkez or Frimpong, as Hamann has, for they weren’t even on the pitch when the goals went in.
Hamann says Frimpong and Kerkez haven’t been good enough for Liverpool since signing
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace and a narrowly avoided disaster against Bournemouth, Liverpool have been crticised quite heavily but that should not come as a surprise.
With the crown as champions and their lavish spending this summer, Liverpool have made themselves a big target to hit.
“I think if you look at the 90 minutes, I think you never felt they were really in control of the game,” Dietmar Hamann told [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/3482339/liverpool-premier-league-signings-milos-kerkez-jeremie-frimpong/) on the breakfast show.
“This is something I think where they’ve been really good last season. It was end-to-end stuff. They struggled to create chances over the 90 minutes and also allowed quite a few.
“I think if you don’t control games without the ball, it makes it even harder to control it with the ball. I think part of it, or the reason was that defensively, they’ve been pretty fragile as they’ve been against Palace.
“Kerkez struggled (in) both games so far. Frimpong, for all his power going forward, his pace, he’s not a right-back.
“I think this is something they have to address because without Trent (Alexander-Arnold) in the team, I think the dynamics in the team will change.”
