In less than two weeks’ time, Arsenal will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s side struggled on the road against Manchester United last weekend, but Arsenal were still ultimately able to win all three points.
And despite Antoine Semenyo’s quickfire double for Bournemouth against Liverpool in the opening evening of the season, Arne Slot’s side also got off to a winning start.
Of course, Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring at Anfield, and he’ll be delighted that he’s now two from two – that’s if you count the FA Community Shield.
Over in north London, Arsenal’s new striker Viktor Gyokeres endured a tough debut at Old Trafford, and he’ll be hoping he can enjoy better service against Leeds United on Saturday.
Gary Lineker thinks Hugo Ekitike will outscore Viktor Gyokeres this season
That being said, both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have now said who they think will score more goals out of the pair on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast.
Along with Micah Richards, the trio were originally asked who they thought would score more goals out of Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak.
But after the panel took Isak out of the equation owing to his messy situation at Newcastle United, it felt like a straight shoot-out between Ekitike and Gyokeres.
And both Lineker and Shearer ultimately decided that it would be Liverpool’s new French striker who would come out on top.

Lineker began: “Sesko got what, 20 minutes? Gyokeres got an hour. Neither of them really showed much because their teams weren’t particularly dominant.
“I would, at the minute, you’d have to go Ekitike because Liverpool were playing so well.”
Shearer replied: “From what you’ve seen, yeah, I agree with that.”
Alan Shearer does still believe that Viktor Gyokeres will score goals for Arsenal
Not long after, Shearer balanced his own prediction somewhat by saying that he does think Gyokeres will score goals for Arsenal.
Rio Ferdinand didn’t agree with negative comments about Gyokeres’ debut on Sunday.
And on his part, Shearer seemingly saw enough to conclude that the Premier League would soon have another prolific Swedish striker.
Shearer added: “I think Gyokeres will score goals in that Arsenal team, he has to, doesn’t he?
“I know he didn’t have the best of games at the weekend, but I would, looking at him and his style and all those things, I would think he will get more goals.”
