Fresh Premier League interest in Middlesbrough star emerges as Ipswich Town lurk

Ipswich Town target and Middlesbrough man Hayden Hackney is off interest of Premier League side West Ham United, according to GiveMeSport.

Ipswich Town enter the Championship season as one of the promotion favourites, having shown flashes of quality in the Premier League last year despite ultimately going down. Kieran McKenna still has a talented ITFC squad at his disposal, though further reinforcements are needed.

The summer has already brought in fresh faces, with Jens Cajuste and veteran Ashley Young among the arrivals. And with significant funds raised, £30m from Liam Delap’s move to Chelsea and £10m from Nathan Broadhead’s switch to Wrexham, the Tractor Boys remain well backed in the market.

However, a stuttering start has raised questions. Frustrating draws with Birmingham City and Southampton, coupled with a shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Bromley, may force Ipswich back into the transfer market in search of the extra quality required to mount a serious title push.

One man Ipswich Town have been courting all summer is Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney. The Tractor Boys now have rival interest though from Premier League West Ham United, according to GiveMeSport.

Ipswich Town have been turned down by Hackney already this summer after a bid was accepted. However, they have not given up hope and now they will hope West Ham do not make their move.

The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract at Middlesbrough, so a deal won’t be forced, especially considering he has played all 180 minutes in the league so far this season, even scoring a goal for his troubles.

No surprise that Hayden Hackney has Premier League interest

It comes as no surprise that Hackney has attracted Premier League interest. The midfielder looking more than ready for a step up to top-flight football.

The England U21 international has already established himself as one of the Championship’s standout central midfielders, showcasing his quality throughout the 2023/24 campaign. Last season only reinforced that reputation, as he continued to impress despite Middlesbrough’s inconsistency.

His performances more than justify a move to the top level, whether in England or abroad. Yet, for now, such opportunities do not appear to be materialising—leaving the door open for Ipswich Town to make their move.

Ipswich Town need a midfielder sorted as soon as possible

The rival interest in Hackney is not the only bad news Ipswich Towm have recieved. The Tractor Boys have also had an offer turned down for Lewis Miley.

ITFC also have Lewis Cook and Phillip Billing on their radar. However, as of yet it is not belived an offer has been made for either.

Ipswich Town need to move on from Hackney if a deal can’t be done. They cannot afford to let their midfielder pursuit drag closer to the deadline.
