Ipswich Town have seen an approach for Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley rejected, according to Keith Downie.
Ipswich Town have started the season picking up two points from two games after facing tough teams in Birmingham City and Southampton. ITFC are favourites to secure promotion this campaign, but still have work to do to improve the squad.
There have been six new arrivals at Portman Road this summer, but with the recent departures of Omari Hutchinson and Nathan Broadhead, reinforcements have to be made in the coming weeks before the deadline on September 1st.

A new midfielder is firmly on the radar, but the Tractor Boys are set for disappointment in the pursuit of one target.
According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Newcastle United have rejected Ipswich Town’s request for a season-long loan deal for Lewis Miley.

The Premier League outfit want to keep their midfielder ahead of a busy schedule with Champions League fixtures to manage. Eddie Howe also sees the 19-year-old playing a key role in the team amid further interest from other teams.
ITFC are the only club to formally enquire for Miley, who made 14 league appearances last term, scoring one goal.

Ipswich Town loan could have been ideal for Lewis Miley
Miley may well be frustrated at Newcastle United and feel a loan move away to a Championship outfit like Ipswich Town would be ideal for his development. The 19-year-old won’t start ahead of the current midfield three, but he possesses the quality to still make an impact.
ITFC are likely to challenge for automatic promotion this campaign, and it would be a great experience for the teenager to play every week. If Howe does give him regular minutes, the rejected approach does make sense, but Miley has to play.

Elliot Anderson’s loan spell in League Two with Bristol Rovers made a huge impact on his growth. Although now a Nottingham Forest player, Newcastle United must use it as an example of loans for younger players being extremely worthwhile.

Ipswich Town have money to spend before the deadline
Ipswich have made over £70m from players sold this transfer window and haven’t spent nearly close to that amount. McKenna’s side is still very strong in comparison to other teams in the Championship, but the club will have ambitions to contend next time they are in the top flight.
The Tractor Boys were thought to have agreed a loan deal for Ivan Azon, but that looks to have fallen through, as McKenna confirmed after the Southampton game.
The pursuit of Hayden Hackney looks to be far from over as reports suggest ITFC are reviving their interest in the Middlesbrough midfielder. Pressure to secure the deal may have been ramped up, too, with the rejected loan deal for Miley and the transfer deadline day fast approaching. The East Anglian side could spend big in the remainder of the window.
