That’s the key message from the 29-year-old, who is looking forward to getting back to Turf Moor for Burnley’s first home game of the season against Sunderland on Saturday.

“We spoke about it last year, you never get too high with the highs and you never get too low with the lows. There’s always next week in football,” he told Burnley’s YouTube channel.

“We’ve been beaten, but we take it on the chin and we go again. Nothing was going to be decided for our season. Of course we wanted to get off to a good start and we had full belief we could get something from the game.

“We’ve shown positives but we also found out where we need to tidy up and that hits home a little bit more because we’ve been punished, so we’ll need to make sure we’re bang on from now on.

“But the message is to stick together, go again and look forward to another Premier League next week.”

While we’re only heading into the second game of the season, there’s already a bit of pressure on the Clarets after this weekend’s opponents Sunderland and fellow newly-promoted side Leeds United both got off to winning starts.

As the old cliché goes, Burnley’s home form will be key this season if they’re to hold any chance of survival - and Cullen can’t wait to get back to home comforts.

“It’s always nice playing at home in front of your own fans. They’re going to be massive this season,” the midfielder added.

“They create a great atmosphere at Turf Moor that really pushes us on, so it’s a good game to look forward to next week.

“Hopefully we can put on a good performance, build on the good things we did against Tottenham and go again.”
