Porto making a serious push for another Arsenal star

Reports suggest Arsenal have entered late talks with Porto over Jakub Kiwior’s potential exit.

Porto step up their pursuit for Arsenal star

The transfer window is closing fast and Porto are going all in to bring Jakub Kiwior on board. Sources reveal that the Portuguese giants held a meeting with Arsenal yesterday. The meeting took place to discuss a loan move that could turn permanent next summer.

The idea suits Porto as it eases the financial hit now while still guaranteeing the **Gunners**a fee down the line. For Arsenal, Kiwior’s exit would represent the end of a player with great potential. Though, he has had trouble pressing to find a first-team place under Mikel Arteta.

The defender has proven he has quality since he signed for the Gunners in January 2023. But, he has never established a huge first team role. Competition has been tough in defence, and he has had limited minutes. So, a fresh start may be exactly what he needs.

Porto’s interest is genuine. The fact that Kiwior can slot in as a centre back or left-sided defender makes him a great option.

Salary talks and player’s call

The main issue right now is wages. Porto want Arsenal to keep paying part of Kiwior’s salary during the loan. That is a detail that has slowed the transfer talks. Regardless, conversations remain open and sources state that ultimately, the decision will lie with the player.

Kiwior has been labelled as a brilliant player and it’s thought he will consider a move if the project suits him. His international teammate Jan Bednarek has even been pushing him towards Porto. That said, it could tip the scales.

However, other clubs are considering the situation as well. That means Arsenal could see further moves ahead of the deadline.

Now, Kiwior will have to decide whether to leave North London, or stay and fight for his spot.
