Osasuna manager questions penalty decision after Real Madrid defeat – ‘It was Mbappe who…

According to COPE, Osasuna have decided not to report Real Madrid for the alleged improper use of Franco Mastantuono in last night’s La Liga clash.

It is to be noted that under league rules, any club has the right to file a complaint within 24 hours of the match ending, with the deadline set at 2:00 PM today.

However, Osasuna will not pursue the matter, despite controversy around the youngster’s registration status.

What’s the issue?

The 18-year-old Argentine has been assigned a reserve team squad number at Madrid, sparking criticism across Spanish football.

While he was officially presented as a first-team player when he signed, Mastantuono wore the number 30 shirt—normally reserved for reserve players – when he came on in the second half.

As such, Miguel Galan, president of the National Training Centre for Football Coaches (CENAFE), was quick to highlight the issue.

Min. 67, se alinea a Mastantuono y se produce alineación indebida, el @osasuna tiene 24 horas desde la finalización del partido para impugnar el encuentro.

He claimed that Madrid had committed “improper alignment” by fielding Mastantuono in this way, describing it as a breach of the regulations.

On social media, Galan pointed out: “Min. 67, Mastantuono is lined up, and there is improper alignment. Osasuna has 24 hours from the end of the match to contest the match.”

Possible consequences for future fixtures

Even though Osasuna are letting the matter go, Galan insists the risk remains for Madrid. If the paperwork and registration do not meet the requirements, other clubs could still file a complaint in future games.

He warned that Real Oviedo, Madrid’s next opponents, could exploit the same loophole if Mastantuono features again.

For now, Madrid avoid immediate repercussions, but the situation places them under scrutiny.

Any repeat of the scenario could give rivals a chance to act against them, raising doubts about how the club have managed the teenager’s integration into the squad.

With the spotlight firmly on Mastantuono’s status, Madrid may need to resolve the registration confusion quickly to prevent further disputes.
