Manchester City have a player in their current squad who is very underrated, according to former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce.
Pep Guardiola knows he is lucky to have the players he does among his ranks, but the Spaniard wants his squad trimmed down before the summer transfer window shuts, with Manuel Akanji among the names that could leave the Manchester club.
There are others, who Man City are open to selling, and one player on that list has fans in Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche.
The English managers have been heaping praise on Guardiola’s player, with the former England boss believing that “he doesn’t get talked about” enough.

Sam Allardyce thinks Man City’s Ederson is underrated
Ederson’s future is currently up in the air at present as Galatasaray continue to pursue the Brazilian goalkeeper, which may have played a part in the 32-year-old missing Man City’s 4-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.
With it being possible that the Man City star leaves the Premier League over the coming days, Allardyce and Dyche have heaped praise on the City legend, who has been one of the best goalkeepers in England since he arrived in 2017.

“They forget how many balls the goalkeeper smashes long. He’s brilliant. He doesn’t get talked about at Man City,” Allardyce said on No Tippy Tappy Football.
Dyche would go on to back that up, stating: “It’s one of his [Pep Guardiola’s] best signings for me, because he could crack that flat one about 70 yards.”
Ederson was undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers around, but the 32-year-old has been in decline for some time, with Paul Scholes among many having concerns about the Man City star before the 2025/26 season began.
The Brazilian looks set to bring an end to his legendary Man City career this summer; however, dealing with Galatasaray has proven harder than expected.
Galatasaray and Manchester City are yet to reach an agreement over Ederson
Galatasaray submitted their first official offer for Ederson last week, with the Turkish club bidding £8.5m (€10m) for the 32-year-old.
The Manchester club do not deem that to be enough, and according to Florian Plettenberg, no agreement has yet been reached between Galatasaray and Man City, with the two clubs still far apart in their valuations of the Brazilian.

The Sky Germany reporter also states that Galatasaray are ready to move for FC Porto’s Diogo Costa if an agreement for Ederson cannot be reached, with an official offer already submitted for the Portuguese star worth €20m plus add-ons.
It remains to be seen how Ederson’s future plays out, but as the transfer window gets closer to its deadline, one of the clubs will have to compromise.
