One of the key priorities in terms of renewals for FC Barcelona is the operation concerning Frenkie de Jong. For weeks, it has been reported that the Dutchman’s renewal is one that the club would like to sort out timely. However, some agent-related issues created some hurdles.
Due to the absence of a representative for the Dutch midfielder, talks reportedly stalled as well. His previous agent, Ali Dursun, was reportedly causing some issues for the player and the Barça midfielder was looking to fully part ways with him.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, De Jong has finally managed to do so and has even appointed a new agent. In fact, just like the 28-year-old midfielder himself, De Jong’s new agent is also Dutch and has even contacted Barça to introduce himself.
Moreover, MD reports that the first talks concerning De Jong’s pending renewal have also already taken place. This is great news for all the concerned parties, as it means that renewal talks are now likely to advance and it is a positive development considering the player’sdesire to stay as well.
Barcelona looking to wrap up departures first
However, before Barça turns their attention towards the Dutchman’s renewal completely, they will reportedly look to finalise the pending exits. The likes of Oriol Romeu are expected to leave this summer, and his contract termination looks to be on the right track.
As for player renewals, the latest operation to be sorted out completely was the extension of Jules Kounde’s contract. Following that agreement with the Frenchman, De Jong now seems to be the next player that Barça wishes to renew.
