Ruben Amorim is overhauling Manchester United

Manchester United have less than a fortnight to wrap up their remaining business in the transfer window.

Ruben Amorim is hoping that the club's activity will propel his team to new heights, following an impressive performance that ultimately ended in defeat against Arsenal. The Red Devils have already made significant acquisitions in Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, spending around £200million.

The trio made their competitive debuts against the Gunners but failed to score. And Amorim appears to be seeking further reinforcements for his squad, with midfield being a priority. However, a move for Carlos Baleba has been halted by Brighton's asking price of over £100m.

United may need to offload more players to fund any new signings. Marcus Rashford has already left on loan to Barcelona, but Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho are still in need of new clubs.

Here, the Daily Star Sport looks at the latest Manchester United transfer news.

Manchester United are still weighing up signing a central midfielder before the summer transfer window closes, having moved on from Carlos Baleba. The 21-year-old Cameroonian international is contracted to Brighton until June 2028, and the Seagulls are standing firm on their £100m demands, having sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115m two years ago.

However, the Red Devils are now considering other options, according to The Athletic. Morten Hjulmand and Adam Wharton are currently under scrutiny as United aim to bolster Ruben Amorim's midfield.

Hjulmand is a familiar face to the United boss, having played 65 times under the Portuguese coach. The 26-year-old is reportedly available for around £50m.

On the other hand, securing a deal for Wharton could prove challenging as Crystal Palace grapple with the potential departures of Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze to Liverpool and Tottenham respectively. The 21-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract.

Gianluigi Donnarumma opportunity

Manchester United have discovered a glimmer of hope in funding a deal for Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer as interest in goalkeeper Andre Onana grows. Inter Milan are keen on re-signing the keeper who helped them reach the Champions League final in 2023.

Since arriving in England, Onana's position has been the subject of much speculation after he failed to impress during a tough spell for United. If Inter do make an offer, United could have the funds to swiftly secure their replacement.

Donnarumma could emerge as an instant target, despite attention from cross-town rivals Manchester City, after Paris Saint-Germain opted to sell the Italian keeper. The Champions League victors are keen to secure a transfer fee for the goalkeeper following failed contract negotiations and the signing of Lucas Chevalier as his successor.

Reports suggest Donnarumma might be snapped up for a mere £26m.

With 12 months remaining on his deal and amid Saudi Arabian interest, Casemiro seems determined to see out another campaign at the club. "I am very happy here," he declared.

"My family is happy here. I enjoy every day at Carrington and at Old Trafford. If people talk from the outside, that's fine, it doesn't interest me. I just want to focus on winning."
