The future of Christopher Nkunku is still up in the air going into the final weeks of the summer transfer window. However, it looks like there could finally be some positive news.
Chelsea have several high-profile players training in their bomb squad away from the first-team group, including Christopher Nkunku.
Chelsea could sell Nkunku for less than £40m this summer, but time is running out to sort his future.
The forward has struggled to establish himself as a key player for the Blues in the last two years despite scoring 18 goals in 62 matches across all competitions. Ultimately, it makes sense for all parties if they can arrange a permanent transfer exit.

RB Leipzig confident of agreeing Christopher Nkunku deal
According to The Guardian, RB Leipzig have stepped up their efforts to re-sign Nkunku this summer.
It is explained that the Blues would prefer to sell the 27-year-old attacker in the current window rather than loan him because he’s not part of their plans moving forward. Bayern Munich recently failed with their offer for Nkunku – a loan with an option to buy – and are not willing to pay enough.
The report says that the Frenchman is open to securing a return to Leipzig, where he played between 2019 and 2023 before securing a £52m move to Chelsea. Apparently, there is confidence that the German Bundesliga club will come to an agreement with Chelsea over a fee for Nkunku.
In addition, Enzo Maresca’s side need to offload Nkunku before they can press ahead with summer moves to sign Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

Simons, 22, has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently. In fact, Chelsea have promised Simons they will bid for him before the summer window closes.
It would be great if Leipzig and Chelsea could help each other out by reaching some sort of agreement for him and Nkunku, even though they are separate deals.

Replacing Christopher Nkunku with Xavi Simons would be a Chelsea upgrade
Unlike Nkunku, Simons is a versatile attacker who can be equally effective in several positions.
If the Netherlands international joins the Blues, he could be an excellent alternative to Cole Palmer in the No.10 position. However, the skilful technician has proven in Leipzig colours he’s extremely effective operating from the left wing as well.
Chelsea love the versatility of Simons because he thinks it makes him a perfect option for them this summer.
