West Ham United have submitted an offer to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, but their bid is likely to be rejected, according to Jacob Steinberg.
After a disappointing start to the season, losing 3-0 away to newly promoted Sunderland, the Hammers could now up the ante in the transfer market. It's been a relatively slow start to the window for the capital club, with only two new additions in the starting XI at the weekend. El Hadji Malick Diouf and Mads Hermansen were in Graham Potter's side, while Kyle Walker-Peters and Callum Wilson, who joined on free transfers, were on the bench.
It was a worrying open fixture for West Ham, and it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see them bring in reinforcements before their next game. The 2024/2025 campaign was underwhelming, and they could be in for another disappointing season if they don't get some deals over the line in the coming weeks.

Reporting on X, Steinberg has confirmed that West Ham have submitted an offer to sign Barcelona midfielder Casado, but it's unlikely to be successful.
"West Ham also made a bid for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado yesterday. Unlikely to be successful."
Described as 'spectacular' by Sergio Busquets, Casado has become a key figure for Barcelona, and it was always going to be difficult to prise him away from Hansi Flick's side. The Spanish midfielder started 20 La Liga games last season, so although he's not a guaranteed starter, he's still certainly in Flick's plans despite being a young player.
Casado would be an excellent addition to West Ham's midfield, but the offer screams of desperation for the Hammers, with Barcelona always unlikely to allow him to depart. It appears that the loss against Sunderland has convinced the transfer committee to start making moves, and there's no doubt signing a midfielder will likely be a priority.
GIVEMESPORT correspondent Romano has recently reported that Edson Alvarez could leave the club this summer, which will leave Potter short of options in the middle of the park. The Hammers are also yet to replace Mohammed Kudus, who joined London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, so bringing in another attacking player will likely also be a priority.
