JOEY JONES achieved so much in his career but Phil Parkinson says the Wrexham legend is "a great example for everybody in our football club" because of how humble he was as a person.
The Reds community was left devastated by the loss of Jones, aged 70, on July 22.
Former full-back Jones made over 370 league appearances for the club across three spells and there will be a 'celebration of his life' at The Racecourse from 12.30pm today.
A European Cup and league title winner with Liverpool, Jones also played for Chelsea and Huddersfield Town, and made 72 appearances for Wales.
He was a winner on the pitch but Reds' boss Parkinson described him as a "humble, down to earth person".
"It was sad when we learned of his passing," said Parkinson, who will be present at The Racecourse today to pay his respects.
"Obviously most importantly his close family and friends, but the wider community of Wrexham and also the football community as well.
"I can honestly say I don't think I've come across many people who are so widely respected as Joey.
"Not just what he did on the football pitch and the way he played, but how humble he was as a person.
"That's a great example for everybody in our football club that even though what Joey achieved in the game, a European Cup winner and how much he was idolised by fans at Wrexham, Liverpool and Chelsea, he was such a humble, down to earth person.
"I think we can use that as a great example for Wrexham Football Club as we go along because he kind of represents what this area is all about.
"There is no guy who represents Wrexham more than Joey in the way he was as a person and I feel particularly now with all the exposure the club's got, Joey is a reminder of what this area and what this football club's all about."
