Nottingham Forest player speaks to manager at club trying to sign him – Marinakis work will be key

Jota Silva is fully aware of what would be expected of him at Sporting, having already held conversations with manager Rui Borges, according to Portuguese newspaper A BOLA.

The report claims Silva has spoken “a couple of times” with Borges, who coached him at Vitória Guimarães prior to his €7m move to Forest. The 26-year-old is reportedly aligned with the manager’s tactical ideas and understands the role he would be expected to play if he joins Sporting.

While Nottingham Forest had initially been reluctant to let the player leave on loan, their stance is said to have softened. The Premier League side are now open to a temporary move without an obligation to buy.

Nottingham Forest’s lack of options last weekend meant Jota Silva had to remain available for the match against Brentford, but the scenario is now evolving as reinforcements arrive. A Bola, and others throughout Europe, note the importance of Evangelos Marinakis in all of that.

This shift comes as Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad undergoes significant changes, with Marinakis helping bring in attacking signings such as Kalimuendo, McAtee, Ndoye and Hutchinson in recent days.

Sporting, however, remain firm in their position: the deal will only go through if it’s on favourable terms – either a low-cost permanent transfer or a loan without obligation.

Negotiations have seen several ups and downs, but the dialogue remains active as the Lions look to close the window with one more attacking option.

As for Jota Silva, the timing now looks right. The player wants the move, the coach wants him,and August is almost over. It’s the type of deal that might just sneak through at the buzzer.
