Liverpool are reportedly struggling to come to an agreement with Crystal Palace over a deal for Marc Guehi.
The England international is one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in the Premier League, but he has entered the final year of his contract at Palace and could therefore be available for £40m this summer.
Newcastle United had multiple offers for Guehi rejected last year, but Palace are expected to sell for the right price in the current window, as they run the risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
According to Sky Sports News, there has not yet been a breakthrough in discussions between Liverpool and Palace, with the Reds unwilling to overpay for the defender considering his contract situation.
The report claims that Guehi is expected to play in Palace's Conference League playoff first leg against Norwegian side Fredrikstad on Thursday night.

Liverpool 'struggling to reach agreement' over Guehi deal
Guehi has had a successful start to the 2025-26 campaign, helping Palace to beat Liverpool in the Community Shield, before playing a vital role in earning the Eagles a point against Chelsea in their Premier League opener.
The 25-year-old, who could be a starter for England at the 2026 World Cup, has made 157 appearances for Palace in all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering four assists in the process.
Liverpool are believed to view Guehi as a priority target, but the Reds will not overpay for the defender, even if they risk missing out on a deal for the Englishman.
According to BBC Sport, Guehi and Palace manager Oliver Glasner remain on good terms despite the transfer talk, but the club accept that the Englishman could leave before the window closes.
Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze on January 26, 2025
Will Eze, Wharton leave Palace before the end of the transfer window?
Palace are expected to lose Eberechi Eze before the end of the transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur bidding to bring the Englishman to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Eagles are set to receive between £55m and £60m for Eze, but they will be losing arguably their most influential player, so it is a major blow for the club at this stage of the season.
There has also been speculation surrounding Adam Wharton's future, with both Manchester United and Real Madrid said to be keen, but it is highly unlikely that the midfielder will leave before the end of the transfer window.
