Birmingham City lead race to sign sought-after Liverpool starlet permanently

Birmingham City lead numerous Championship rivals in the race to sign Liverpool starlet Lewis Koumas, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Birmingham City have made their mark in the summer transfer window by embarking on another ambitious recruitment drive. BCFC have visions of competing at the top end of the Championship right off the bat after a record-breaking League One title win.

Much of their business is done with a little over a week now left in the window, but the Blues still have room for improvement in some areas.

Birmingham City transfers are likely to be more focused on departures as the end of the window nears, but one man who remains a target is Lewis Koumas.

According to the Liverpool Echo, it’s the St. Andrew’s outfit who are at the front of a multi-club chase for the versatile Welsh prospect.

Wrexham are among those keen, while Sheffield United have held a long-term interest. Also on the trail of Liverpool starlet Koumas are Norwich City, Hull City and Preston North End.

It had perhaps been expected Koumas would head out another loan, but the report says both BCFC and fellow Championship newcomers Wrexham are willing to sign him permanently this summer.
