£17m Man United target 'inspired by Kylian Mbappe' has just been signed by Jose Mourinho

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho moved quickly to sign one of Ineos’ long-term transfer targets.

Last season, Ruben Amorim often cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines as he watched his Manchester United side struggle to find the back of the net.

As a result, Ineos immediately got to work creating a shortlist of attacking options for the January and summer windows.

Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were the only January signings made under Amorim, but United did plenty of work behind the scenes monitoring Nene Dorgeles.

Ultimately, United have spent close to £200m renovating their attacking options through Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, leaving Dorgeles up for grabs.

Jose Mourinho signs Man United target Nene Dorgeles

United’s interest in Dorgeles started in January when Ineos were scouring the market for exciting forward options.

The 22-year-old Malian winger has been making a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg, and given Christopher Vivell’s links to the Red Bull Group, it seemed like a plausible deal.

However, United preferred to shop for Premier League stars this summer, and now former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has swooped in to sign Dorgeles for Fenerbahce.

According to Tribuna, Fenerbahce have paid a total package of €20 million (£17m) for Dorgeles’ signature.

Dorgeles is “inspired by Kylian Mbappe”, boasting incredible speed and dribbling ability.

Mourinho has been linked to several United targets this summer, and he will be delighted to get a deal for the exciting Dorgeles over the line.

Man United moved on from Nene Dorgeles

It seemed likely that Dorgeles was a wing-back target for United back in January, with Amorim eager to strengthen his left flank last season.

In the end, United struck a £25m deal for Dorgu to ease Amorim’s concerns, and the Dane has already impressed during his first few months.

Given that Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system doesn’t particularly suit wingers, it didn’t make sense for United to continue their pursuit of Dorgeles.

Instead, Ineos were keen to recruit Premier League-proven stars for their new front three, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo joining this summer.

It will be interesting to see how Dorgeles is used by Mourinho in Turkey and whether he is able to fulfil his exciting potential, but United will be pleased with their transfer business over the last 12 months regardless.
