David Moyes wants Everton to be active in the final weeks of the transfer window at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton lost to Leeds United at Elland Road on 18 August, with the Scottish manager having to play some players like James Garner and Carlos Alcaraz out of their natural positions.

Moyes has already urged The Friedkin Group (TFG) to make a significant investment in the squad before the end of August as the Blues look to compete for a European spot in the Premier League.

The 62-year-old head coach may already have a few ideas, and a bargain deal with West Ham United could be on the cards.

Edson Alvarez has loan offers amid Everton transfer interest

A spokesman close to the Hammers’ owners has revealed that Edson Alvarez is thinking about his options this summer.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The East London outfit’s insider admits the Mexico international has offers on the table, but they’re all loan deals.

While the Merseyside outfit have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, there may still be a lot of work that needs to be done to get a transfer over the line, with the midfielder’s exit not imminent.

Speaking to Hammers News on 19 August, the West Ham spokesman said: “Not true [that Alvarez on his way out imminently]. He is thinking about his options at the moment, which I won’t divulge. But they are all loans, no offers to buy.”

What could Alvarez bring to Everton

Tim Iroegbunam has been linked with a move to Sheffield United in recent weeks, and after his display against Leeds, it’s clear the Toffees need an upgrade on the English youngster.

Idrissa Gueye also started at Elland Road for the Blues, but the Senegal international isn’t getting any younger, and a replacement is arguably needed.

While Moyes experimented with Garner in a deeper role during pre-season to good effect, his versatility to play in the backline may be needed this season.

Alvarez wasn’t at his best last season, but Moyes may be able to bring the best out of him at Everton.

The 27-year-old was a key player for the Scottish manager during his final season at West Ham, as the Hammers made it to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

A loan deal for the Mexican international would undoubtedly be financially sound for the Blues, but only time will tell whether he will move to L5.
