Galatasaray’s pursuit of Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has intensified, with the English club reportedly setting an asking price for the Swiss international.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Galatasaray has made the 30-year-old a top priority and has already submitted a contract offer.

Akanji, who joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund three years ago, has a contract with the reigning Premier League champions that runs until 2027.
Despite his history with the club, he is widely expected to depart this summer. Akanji was an unused substitute in City’s dominant 4-0 opening-day victory over Wolves, where Rúben Dias and John Stones were Pep Guardiola’s preferred starters in central defense.
Foot Mercato reports that Galatasaray has lodged an initial transfer bid of £15 million for the defender. However, a gap in valuation exists between the two clubs, as Manchester City is holding out for an £18 million package.
Negotiations are scheduled to continue in the coming days as all parties work to bridge the £3 million difference. Should an agreement be reached, Akanji’s move to the Süper Lig would provide a significant boost to Galatasaray’s defensive line and mark a major coup for the Turkish giants in the transfer market.
The potential transfer reflects Galatasaray’s ambition to compete at the highest level, both domestically and in Europe, by acquiring proven talent from one of the world’s top clubs.
