Sean Dyche is not remembered fondly by many at Everton after his disastrous spell.

Dyche was sacked by Everton last season amid growing concerns at the time that the Merseyside club could be relegated before moving to their new home.

Moyes steadied the Everton ship and then some, guiding them to an impressive 13th-place finish, with the Hill Dickinson Stadium now days away from Premier League football.

Now, Dyche has opened up to former Toffees boss Sam Allardyce about what he told his successor in the North West.

What Sean Dyche told David Moyes after Everton sack

Moyes praised Dyche during his early Everton days last season for the foundations he laid for the Scot.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Englishman has been without a job since being relieved of his duties in January of this year.

Dyche managed the Toffees for 83 matches and guided them to safety in 2023/24, but struggled for wins the following campaign.

When he was sacked, Everton occupied 16th position, with just three wins from 19 league matches.

Dyche’s record as Everton manager

Given how poorly the bottom three performed, the North West club were never really in danger of going down, but they made sure by appointing Moyes.

Now, Dyche has opened up about what he said to Moyes during an interview with Sam Allardyce on his No Tippy Tappy Football YouTube channel on 19 August.

“I spoke to Moyesy, Moyesy rang me, and the club asked me to give him good advice.

“Moyesy rang me and I said I’m telling you now there’s nothing wrong with them, but they need a fresh voice. Sometimes it’s as simple as that because you couldn’t freshen the squad up because I didn’t have the money to.

“I said to Moyesy, all it is, fluff them up, give them a refresh, do your own bits tactically and all that, but you’re not going to be far off. I said there is no chance these are going down, no chance, you know that. Even with me, we were never going to go down.”

Everton make worrying Premier League start after Moyes progress

Moyes called for more Everton signings this summer, and while they have made additions, it is evidently not enough.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was the only new acquisition to start for the Toffees, while Carlos Alcaraz made his first appearance since signing permanently.

More signings were found on the bench, with Jack Grealish and Thierno Barry coming on as late substitutes.

Given the lack of quality acquisitions and the same look team, it was a concerning start for the Merseyside club.

Everton have made several signings already

Barry and Grealish should become starters

More additions are needed to strengthen the starting 11

Indeed, it is clear that Moyes is not happy, and the hierarchy would be wise to back him further in the transfer market.
