Chelsea’s opening day draw against Crystal Palace has left fans with more questions than answers about the team’s prospects this season.
The lack of creativity on show would have been particularly concerning for head coach Enzo Maresca and he may look to shake things up in terms of his starting lineup against West Ham on Friday night.
Read below as we go through our predicted XI for the Blues’ fixture at the London Stadium.
Goalkeeper and Defence
GK – Robert Sanchez – the Spaniard wasn’t tested that often last weekend and he will be hoping for another quiet evening against the Hammers.
RB – Reece James – the captain will be looking to improve on what was a pretty ropey display on the opening day.
CB – Trevoh Chalobah – the centre-back continues to be one of the club’s most consistent performers.
CB – Josh Acheampong – the teenager was named player of the match for his display versus Palace so he is set to keep his place. Tosin Adarabioyo could be available again but he may only be fit enough for the bench.
LB – Marc Cucurella – after keeping a clean sheet last time out, Maresca is unlikely to make any changes to the backline, with the left-back keeping his spot ahead of summer signing Jorrel Hato.
