Sky Sports reveal if Alexander Isak will face Liverpool next week

Alexander Isak’s ongoing transfer saga reached a new peak this week when the Newcastle United forward made a pointed absence at the PFA Awards gala.

Despite earning a place in the PFA Team of the Season after netting 23 goals, Isak opted not to attend the ceremony in Manchester, a move that raised eyebrows across the Premier League community.

Late last night, the Sweden international broke his silence via an Instagram statement.

While thanking teammates and fans for their support, Isak hinted at broken promises behind the scenes, writing, “I’ve been patient, but with trust lost, I can’t stay silent any longer.”

He insisted that commitments made by the club were not honored and that a change was necessary for all parties involved.

And he seems to be holding strong in his stance.

Sky Sports has reported this Wednesday that Isak is still not training with the sqaud, and is therefore not expected to play against Liverpool:

“It’s not a surprise that Alexander Isak is not here as part of Newcastle’s training group and their preparations for that huge match against Liverpool next week Monday,” Keith Downie reported at Newcastle’s training ground.

“I don’t expect Isak to be involved for either club, I would expect Anthony Gordon to lead the line for Newcastle.”

“The mood [in the team] feels pretty relaxed, it feels good despite the Alexander Isak drama we continually talk about.”

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Newcastle have still tried to keep the Swede at the club in recent weeks.

Reporting on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, the transfer expert claimed that the Geordie club had made a contract offer that included an exit clause in 2026.

However, Isak turned down all the offers.
