The New York Knicks are coming off an impressive season last year that saw them reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 and they are looking to go even farther in the playoffs next season.

Of course, the Knicks will have their core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart returning next season and they also made some key additions this offseason.

New York began their summer by replacing head coach Tom Thibodeau with two-time Coach of the Year winner Mike Brown and they then signed Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency to upgrade their bench.

By making these moves, the Knicks are expected to be one of the top teams in the East next season with the conference being weakened due to injuries.

While the Knicks are viewed as one of the top teams in the East entering next season, they do still have one roster space open and they are expected to use it to sign another veteran player.

Knicks linked to Thomas Bryant in free agency

New York has been linked to many different players such as Ben Simmons and Russell Westbrook but SNY’s David Vertsberger recently named Thomas Bryant as a potential option in free agency.

“One position the Knicks may want to heavily consider using this spot for is the center spot. Their current rotation is made up of Towns, Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti, and if they start the double-big lineup, this essentially leaves them one backup five to start the year,” Vertsberger wrote. “Fans will remember Bryant from his timely threes against the Knicks in the conference finals. He’s now bounced between five teams in his eight-year NBA career but can step in in a pinch with some offensive rebounding and rim deterrence.”

For Bryant, he would give the Knicks more depth at the center position, which the franchise could use with their injury problems at the position over the past handful of seasons.

The 28-year-old center is a solid scorer and rebounder who would give the Knicks more size inside and he would also give them another veteran presence who also has championship experience which came with the Denver Nuggets in 2023.

While Bryant would be a solid addition to the Knicks’ bench, they have many other options they could turn to fill their final roster spot before the start of next season.
