Report: Champions League giants eyeing ‘shock’ deal to sign £200,000-a-week Man Utd star, he’s…

Manchester United stopper Andre Onana could be on his way out of the club in the coming weeks of the summer transfer window, according to reports - with the Cameroonian star being on the trails of former club Inter Milan, in what would be a 'shock' return to the Serie A giants.

The report by The Sun states that Inter are 'monitoring' a move for Onana, with his situation at Old Trafford continuing to be cast in doubt after injuries and poor performances.

Report: Inter Milan 'Monitoring' Move for Man Utd Star Andre Onana

Andre Onana in action for Manchester United

Onana wasn't in United's squad to face Arsenal in their Premier League curtain-raiser against the Gunners over the weekend, with Altay Bayindir instead starting the clash in goal - but after the game, manager Ruben Amorim insisted that he wasn't dropped, with the gaffer only being cautious due to Onana's injury issues during pre-season.

However, that hasn't stopped speculation growing over his future. and now The Sun have claimed that Inter are 'interested' in re-signing the shot-stopper, who was a huge success in Italy after joining from Ajax just a year prior.

Onana reached the Champions League final with Inter in his only season at the club, as well as winning the Coppa Italia under Simone Inzaghi, and he remains a cult-hero amongst the Nerazzuri faithful. As a result, San Siro chiefs believe that Onana would be open to a return to the Lombardian capital.

Inter replaced him with Yann Sommer, who also took the club to the Champions League final last season, but with the Swiss star being 36 and new manager Christian Chivu coming in to potentially fancy a new No.1, that could open the door for Onana's return.

Inter have also been linked with United target Senne Lammens, who could come into their ranks, though any deal for the Belgian is undeveloped as yet. However, Inter's interest could line up a domino effect, seeing United get a clear run at Lammens if they can sort a deal for Onana to head back to Italy, bringing an end to his £200,000-a-week contract in England.

Onana was an ever-present for United in his first full league season at the club, finishing eighth under Erik ten Hag despite some shocking performances on a personal level - and those irregular blunders continued last season, being dropped in late April after a run of mistakes in favour of Bayindir - though he was reinstated for the Europa League final, which United lost to eventual champions Tottenham Hotspur in a 1-0 defeat.
