Arsenal Set Asking Price For Kiwior as 27M offer gets rejected

Arsenal has rejected a transfer offer worth €27 million for Centre-Back Jakub Kiwior recently. The offer came from Portuguese club FC Porto, who were interested in bringing in the 25-year-old on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause. Arsenal rejected the offer, citing the deal structure as insufficient, per DailyCannon.

Arsenal has now set an asking price for Kiwior, following Porto’s offer. The Gunners reportedly value the player at €35 million, with any offer less than that value facing instant rejection. The asking price of €35 million seems reasonable, as the Polish defender has garnered interest from a handful of clubs.

Kiwior in demand

FC Porto’s approach, other clubs from Europe have set their eyes on Kiwior. The Italian club, Juventus, is strongly linked with the defender. Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that the Pole is a prime target for the giants. The Turin club view the Arsenal player as a reliable replacement for the likely to leave Lloyd Kelly. Juventus Coach, Igor Tudor, whose current priority is strengthening their defence, seems to be a fan of the player.

Another Italian giant, AC Milan, is reportedly interested in Kiwior. The club values Kiwior’s previous experience in the Serie A with now-relegated club Spezia, alongside his defensive versatility. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the defender is now a priority for the 7-time UCL champions. Similar to their league rivals, Milan is set to step up its efforts to sign the player.

From England, Crystal Palace has registered its interest in the defender. The English side is at risk of losing its most valuable defender in Marc Guehi, forcing it to look for players capable of filling the gap left by him. The club has reportedly made attempts to sign the Pole in the past, but to no avail. However, this time, the Eagles will likely have the financial capabilities to meet Arsenal’s demands, following the sale of Guehi. In like manner to Igor Tudor, Oliver Glasner values Kiwior’s profile and pedigree in European and Premier League football. Recent reports also link the player to Merseyside club Everton.

Arsenal happy with Kiwior, but future up in the air

While the Left-Footed Centre-Back is valued by clubs across Europe, Arsenal do not intend to sell the player. Mikel Arteta doesn’t want to lose the player, as per the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano. The coach reportedly considers Kiwior, who’s returning off an impressive late 24/25 campaign, to be an important part of the squad. Furthermore, Arsenal is not interested in letting go of the 24-year-old. The club will only consider permanent deal offers above the minimum asking price of €35 million.

Kiwior joined the Gunners during the January 2023 window, on a deal worth €19.5 million. He has made 68 appearances for the club since, rotating with the Centre-back pairing of Saliba and Gabriel. Recent reports suggest that Kiwior, personally, is interested in a transfer due to the lack of minutes he’s been getting. While the club do appreciate the player, his dissatisfaction throws his future up in the air.

Should Kiwior leave?

Kiwior’s quality is no secret. During the 24/25 season, Kiwior made his level visible as he seamlessly replaced the injured Gabriel during a season where Arsenal made it to the UCL semi-finals and placed 2nd in the league. However, he isn’t likely to get near enough minutes once Gabriel is fit. The signing of Cristhian Mosquera makes matters worse. He is currently 24, approaching his prime. At this stage in his career, he needs consistent game time. It doesn’t seem likely that Kiwior will get that at Arsenal. While it may seem puzzling for a quality player to leave such a big club, a move away might be best for his career. A left-footed centre-back is always valued, and a Left-Footed Centre-Back of Kiwior’s quality can easily grab a starting spot at most clubs. Considering the names interested in him, it may be best for Kiwior to leave.
