Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has made it clear that he wants to leave the club this summer.
With just over ten days left in the transfer window to shut down, he faces a race against time to seal a move away from St. James’ Park.
Liverpool have already seen their first bid get rejected for him but they remain seriously interested in signing him and are expected to make another offer soon.
Last night, Isak released a statement mentioning how promises have been broken by the Magpies.
In response, Newcastle United expressed how Isak’s statement has disappointed them.
Alexander Isak is involved in a power battle with Newcastle
The battle for power continues at Newcastle while Liverpool are playing the waiting game and watching it all unravel with keen interest. The striker has made up his mind to join Arne Slot’s Liverpool and he is determined to achieve this goal this summer.
The biggest mystery surrounding this transfer saga is why Isak has still not handed in a formal transfer request.
According to The Standard, Isak has avoided handing in a formal transfer request because it could have financial implications for him.
A transfer request is formalised through a legal document submitted by the player to their club, clearly stating their intention to leave. By doing so, the player is essentially declaring a willingness to breach the existing terms of their employment contract, which usually ties them to the club until a set date.
It carries serious financial and professional consequences. One of the biggest drawbacks for the player is the potential loss of lucrative contractual perks.

These include signing-on bonuses, loyalty payments, or other incentive-based clauses that are only guaranteed if the player honours their contract in full.
By submitting a request to leave, they often forfeit these benefits, which can amount to millions of pounds depending on the player’s contract.
Beyond the financial implications, a transfer request can also affect the player’s relationship with the club and its supporters. However, in this case, it would hardly make a difference since the player has already burned bridges with the Toon Army.
A transfer request has still not formally come from Isak but it could only be a matter of time with the clock ticking and only over a week left for the transfer window to shut down.
