**Yesterday, Newcastle United was approached by Ipswich Town with an offer to loan Lewis Miley for the season.**
As reported a few days ago, the Tractor Boys see Lewis Miley as the perfect addition to their squad to help them return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Ipswich's return to the top flight didn't go as planned with Kieran McKenna's side lasting just one season, but they are determined to regain their place amongst England's elite.
Lewis Miley is a backup player at Newcastle with three outstanding midfielders ahead of him, and now Jacob Ramsey is probably higher in the pecking order, too.
Ipswich Town saw a formal approach for Lewis Miley rejected by Newcastle

However, as reported by Keith Downie on his YouTube channel, Newcastle have rejected the approach, seeing Miley as too important, especially with the Magpies competing in the Champions League this season.
> "There's been a. A lot of interest in Miley this summer. A lot of different clubs have come to Newcastle and made informal approaches. This is the first formal one. "Ipswich have got ambitions to get back into the Premier League and see Miley as being an ideal central midfielder for them for the season. Of course, they missed out on Hayden Hackney of Middlesbrough. They thought they had him; he went for talks and a medical, but he decided last minute not to go.

> "Newcastle have issued a 'hands off' warning because they want Miley as part of the squad for the season. Eddie Howe wants six midfielders for three positions."
Lewis Miley is likely to get plenty of game time this season
------------------------------------------------------------
There is a case to be made for Miley going out on loan to a top Championship side in order to get regular football, but with Newcastle competing on four fronts again this season, we expect he'll get plenty of opportunities staying put.
Miley was used a lot the last time Newcastle were in the Champions League, as it decimated the squad, so Eddie Howe will be cautious not to go into the season understaffed in any position this time around.
Although the way things are looking, that could end up being the case with centre forwards. At least our midfield will be stacked.
