Manchester City have been told that one of their top targets could still end up at Man United this summer.
The Citizens are not done in the current transfer market as the Manchester club are fully focused on reducing the size of Pep Guardiola’s squad, with Manuel Akanji looking like a potential exit to make that happen.
There are other members of City’s squad that the Premier League club are open to selling, with the future of Ederson also in doubt, despite Guardiola publicly stating that the Brazilian will be his number one for the 2025/26 season.
Man City already have targets in mind should one of their key stars leave, and it is being said that there is a chance one of them could still join Man United before the transfer window shuts.

Gianluigi Donnarumma could still join Man United this summer
Should Ederson complete a move to Galatasaray, Man City’s top target to replace the Brazilian is PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Donnarumma is keen on joining Guardiola’s squad before the summer transfer window shuts, but a move cannot be completed until Ederson is moved on.

This could open the door for Man United to jump in and sign the Italian, and Jan Aage Fjortoft has reported that there is still a chance the 26-year-old moves to Old Trafford.
“Manchester United need a new goalkeeper if they are to have any realistic hopes of finishing in the top six. Donnarumma is a world-class keeper, and I understand there’s still a chance he could end up in Manchester….on the red side of the city,” Fjortoft said on X.

“The challenge for United, though, is that they’ll need to move at least one goalkeeper out before that becomes possible.”
Man United will find it hard to move Andre Onana over the coming days, while the lack of European football will make it difficult to convince Donnarumma to move to Old Trafford.
City are firmly in the lead of the race for the PSG star, but this is a reminder that they will need to move fast, or else another club could swoop in and sign the goalkeeper.

Man City in direct talks with PSG over Gianluigi Donnarumma
Personal terms are not set to be a problem for Manchester City if they attempt to sign Donnarumma, with the difficulty being an agreement with PSG on a transfer fee.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, City have been in close and direct talks with the Ligue 1 champions for the past 48 hours to discuss the departure of their goalkeeper, with both clubs keen to find a solution.
The French club initially wanted as much as €50m (£43m) for Donnarumma, but that is a fee Man City will not pay; therefore, a compromise will have to be made.
It remains to be seen how the goalkeeper situation plays out in Manchester, but nothing will happen if Ederson stays at the Etihad Stadium.
