Newcastle United and Alexander Isak exchanged a fierce war of words last night.
Simon Jordan has dared Alexander Isak to reveal the Newcastle United official who promised him a dream Liverpool transfer.
A bombshell 24 hours has resulted in Isak and the Magpies putting statements out to unleash a public war of words. The situation has turned ugly - with the striker accusing the club of breaking previous promises.
Many believe those words point towards Newcastle reneging on a contract extension 12 months ago. Others - namely Liverpool fans on social media - have suggested a transfer was previously promised.
Newcastle are adamant that no such deal was ever agreed and the door remains open for a controversial return. Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has called on Isak to “have the balls” and name the Toon official in question.
Simon Jordan dares Alexander Isak
“It's very clear Newcastle have established their position,” he told talkSPORT. “I suspect the reality of what's being said, ‘I've not had my say or I've not spoken and others have filled the air’ is nonsense because it's his people that have been filling the air.
I don't doubt Newcastle have understood that Alexander Isak would like to leave Newcastle if a very big football club comes in. If you have the balls to turn around and say, ‘I was told by X’... name them. Name the person who specifically and explicitly told you that, irrespective of conditions, you can leave when it suits you. He won't do it. He can't do it.
“These players are running around now, whenever they don't get what they want, turning around and saying, ‘Well, I understood this. I had a gentleman's agreement for that’. So in future, what you can do is no longer rely on a contract. You can write it down on a napkin and just turn around, not even write it down and say, ‘Here's what I think we'll understand going forward’.
“They wouldn't have that. They would say, ‘Oh, my contract, my bonuses, my weekly salary, my goal bonus, my loyalty bonus’ and so on. It's nonsense.”
Alexander Isak agent questioned
Jordan also hit out at Isak’s agent, Vlado Lemic, for not ensuring any promises in writing. He added: “If you're an agent and a club official sits in front of you and says, ‘Look, I'll give you an implicit understanding that, if something comes along, we'll agree to it’. Put it in writing. Put it as an addendum to the contract. The reason why that hasn't happened is because it didn't happen.”

Alexander Isak statement in full
Isak’s statement failed to directly acknowledge Eddie Howe or the Newcastle supporters. He wrote on Instagram: “I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.
"The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.
"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."
