It’s been a long time coming but Nottingham Forest look to finally have a breakthrough for Douglas Luiz.
Edu is a huge fan of the midfielder and after Evangelos Marinakis took over negotiations for Luiz, a deal looks to have been struck.
Forest added Arnaud Kalimuendo to the ranks on Monday and now another new signing looks likely to take place before Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
The Reds have so far signed Igor Jesus, Jair Cunha, Dan Ndoye, Angus Gunn, Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee and Kalimuendo to the squad.
Forest will be in the Europa League this season and it would appear that Marinakis is leaving no stone unturned.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there has been a breakthrough in negotiations and Forest are now close to getting their man.
Edu will strike a third-time lucky deal with Luiz after trying to sign him twice when he was overseeing transfers at Arsenal.
It’s believed that everything is now agreed on a deal worth around £25 million, with Forest tying Luiz to a contract for the next five years.

Forest now have options aplenty in midfield
With over 200 appearances to his name for Aston Villa, this feels like an extremely good piece of business from a Forest perspective.
Luiz has experience of playing in European competition and his presence in midfield should offer Forest some real solidity.
The Brazilian will be keen to play football during a World Cup year and he will face a fierce fight to get into the team under Espirito Santo.
It’s great that Forest have got their business done weeks before the deadline and now, the focus will surely shift towards signing a full-back or two before the window closes.
Luiz, 27, looks like the perfect Forest signing and after a very long pursuit, Marinakis looks to have finally got his man.
