Huddersfield Town loanee Josh Feeney reflected on a “really good night” for his side after they recorded a 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening.
The Terriers bounced back from their 3-2 defeat at Blackpool with the victory at the Accu Stadium as late goals from Ben Wiles and Joe Taylor saw Town return to winning ways.
The result was Town’s third victory in four League One matches so far this term. Reflecting on his side’s latest success, Feeney told HTTV: “A good result in the end 2-0, obviously a clean sheet as well.
“Obviously we had to weather a bit of a storm early on, but good teams have to do that as well. We didn’t concede, which is a really important part of it, and then when we got our chances we took them, so a really good night.
“Sometimes they’re the best wins for us, we’ve grafted and grafted, and to come out with such a good win like that, it’s really good.
“We’re going to get games like that. There are good teams in this league, Doncaster were a good team tonight I thought, and we’re going to come up against loads of challenges like that, and I thought we did it really well.”
The clean sheet was Town’s third shut out of the season to date. Centre-half Feeney added: “It’s really good just to have that base, and then the attackers can rely on us, and we can rely on them to get us out of situations as well. A really good start by all the lads and all the defenders.”
The Aston Villa loanee made his first league start for the Terriers in Tuesday’s victory. The 20-year-old said: “It was obviously a good performance tonight. It was good to get a full game against Leicester as well, which was a really good team performance, and I just want to keep building on that hopefully, and just try and play as many games as I can to help the team where they want to get to.”

Feeney was brought straight into the starting 11 to face Doncaster after being left out of the squad for Saturday’s defeat at Blackpool. Defensive duo Jack Whatmough and Sean Roughan were not included in the 18 despite both starting over the weekend.
Discussing his rotation policy, Terriers’ boss Lee Grant told BBC Radio Leeds: “I’m really enjoying the way the guys are really buying into it, and really writing their own story when it comes to that.
“That’s not normal for groups to be so humble to go ‘okay, not my turn from the start tonight, I’ve got to be ready from the bench’, and ‘it might not be my turn tonight at all because I’m in the stand, but I’ve got to be ready next week’ – Josh Feeney, what an example of that. I enjoy watching that, and the guys have really bought into that.
“Jack’s performances have been excellent, and Sean’s performances have been to a really good standard. What we also have to be mindful of is that we’ve got other guys, like Murray Wallace and Josh Feeney, that are pushing really, really hard, and are deserving of their opportunities that they’re getting – Leicester City here is an example of that, and tonight here is an example of that.
“The group understand it. They might not like it at times, but they understand it, and the humility, the lack of ego from the group is so, so important. That has to continue for us to be successful, and I’m certain it will.”
