3 Forwards Arsenal Could Sign To Replace Kai Havertz After Fresh Injury Update

Arsenal striker Kai Havertz has suffered an injury which is expected to keep him on the side-lines for the foreseeable future.

Havertz suffered a knee injury last season which kept him out of action for Arsenal for the last three months of the season. It came as a huge blow for Mikel Arteta, as the Gunners didn’t have any other striker options.

They have signed Viktor Gyokeres, who will be the first choice up front, but with Gabriel Jesus injured until the end of the year with an ACL injury, meaning Arsenal will need more reinforcements up front if Havertz is out for a long period of time.

According to the Athletic, Havertz is set for a spell on the sidelines, and Arsenal are looking to explore the transfer market, which indicates that he is potentially out for a lengthy period of time. If that is the case, Arsenal have less than two weeks to add to their attack in the transfer window, which could prove to be tricky.

Who could Arsenal sign up front?

The first place that Arsenal will likely look towards is the Premier League, seeing as they could do with a reliable, trusty backup to Gyokeres. In terms of strikers in the English top division who are likely to be available this summer, Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is an immediate option.

Newcastle are hoping to sign Wissa as part of the long Alexander Isak saga, however, Arsenal could keep the theme of the transfer window, and swipe a player from Newcastle’s grasp, something that has happened to the Magpies several times this summer.

Wissa could be expensive though, as Brentford will likely be unwilling to easily sell him, despite the striker wanting to leave.

Another alternative could be Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, who was linked over a move to Serie A side Atalanta. However, the Italian club decided against signing him, despite Muniz scoring an excellent goal in Fulham’s first game of the season. He has a market value of around £35m, making him a relatively cheap, but proven option.

If the Gunners wanted to look further afield, they could consider an option from the Bundesliga in the form of Victor Boniface, who they have been linked with in the past.

The Nigerian striker plays for Bayer Leverkusen, and has shown an ability to be a solid target man. He would be a very different player than Havertz, but is a proven goal scorer in Europe. Last season, he made 19 Bundesliga appearances, and managed to score eight goals.
