Former Chicago Bears quarterbackJay Cutler, 42, is making a bold statement in response to his ex-wife Kristin Cavallari's claim that she "got nothing" in their divorce. On a recent episode of his Take It Outside podcast, the 12-year NFL veteran appeared to respond to Cavallari's comments made during a June episode of her own podcast, Let's Be Honest.
Addressing Cavallari's financial claims, Cutler said, "Let's think about this logically. ‘Not a penny.' OK. Married for, I don't know, seven years or so, three kids. You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It's online. You can see the contract from year to year and the total amount at the end of 12 years. So, you go to divorce, and each side gets a lawyer, and then you go to court, and there's a judge."
Cutler added that "there's not a judge in the state of Tennessee" who would have signed off on an agreement allowing him to keep all his NFL earnings.

Kristin Cavallari Claims She "Got Nothing" in Divorce from Jay Cutler
The battle of the dueling podcasts began in June when Cavallari made a bold statement about funding her clothing brand, Uncommon James. On that episode, she claimed to be "100 percent" the company's sole owner and that she "never" took outside funding-also asserting that Cutler had no involvement in the company's creation. The Hills star further claimed that Uncommon James generates "close to $50 million a year in revenue."
"I have never gotten a penny from my ex-husband," she said. "I didn't get any money from our divorce from my ex-husband. I didn't get any money in the divorce, so let's just clear that up."
Cutler was once the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, signing a seven-year, $126 million contract with the Bears. He and Cavallari split in 2020 after seven years of marriage. The former couple shares three children.
Post-Divorce Drama Echoes 'The War of the Roses'
The pair documented their sometimes tense marriage on Cavallari's reality show Very Cavallari on E!. Now, the dueling exes seem to be at war post-marriage, reminiscent of the iconic 1989 black comedy The War of the Roses, which is being reimagined in a new film titled The Roses, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman.
The film is scheduled to be released on August 29, 2025.
