Man United working to sell five'unwanted'players before summer transfer deadline

Manchester United are reportedly still hopeful of selling five players before the transfer window closes.

Only one member of Man United's 'bomb squad' has left Old Trafford this summer, with England international Marcus Rashford completing a loan move to Barcelona.

Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony remain contracted to the 20-time English champions, and time is fast running out for clubs in terms of completing deals before the September 1 deadline.

Rasmus Hojlund is another player who could leave before the end of the market, although unlike Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Malacia, he is still involved with the first team at the Carrington training complex.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United remain hopeful that they will be able to move all five on before the deadline, so it could be an incredibly busy end to the month for the club.

The report claims that Roma are currently the most advanced in terms of a potential deal for Sancho, but it remains to be seen whether personal terms can be agreed between the two parties.

Sancho turned down the chance to join Chelsea on a permanent basis earlier this summer over personal terms, with the Blues therefore paying to pay a £5m penalty to Man United.

Chelsea are now looking to sign Garnacho, but it is understood that the London club do not want to pay more than £30m, while Man United value him closer to £45m, so there is a clear issue when it comes to a potential transfer.

Antony continues to hold out for a move to Real Betis following a successful loan spell in the second half of last season, but the Spanish outfit are struggling to pay Man United's asking price, which is around £30m.

Malacia, meanwhile, is being linked with a move to Serie A, where he could be joined by Hojlund, with AC Milan believed to be hoping to sign the Denmark international on an initial loan deal.

Will Man United make any further signings?

Man United could still potentially sign a new central midfielder and a goalkeeper before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

A deal for Brighton & Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba is off the table due to the cost of the deal, but Sevilla's Lucien Agoume has allegedly been identified as an alternative for the Red Devils.

Man United's goalkeeping issues were also on display against Arsenal on Sunday, as number two Altay Bayindir made a mistake in his side's 1-0 defeat, and failing to sign a new goalkeeper could cost the team this season.

Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens are viewed as potential targets for the 20-time English champions in the latter stages of the market.
