Sweden goalkeeper Robin Olsen has insisted the ongoing transfer saga around Newcastle United star Alexander Isak won’t change his opinion of his teammate.
[Fotboll Skanalen](https://www.fotbollskanalen.se/vm-kval/olsen-om-isak-situationen-ingenting-som-paverkar-/) cover comments from the goalkeeper today in which he insists Isak’s attempts to move to Liverpool from Newcastle won’t impact his relationship with the forward.
Isak has essentially gone on strike for Newcastle’s start to the new season as he looks to engineer a move to Liverpool.
The Reds are reportedly keen to sign the Swedish star despite their big spend this summer and the arrival of Hugo Ekitike, and have already seen a big-money bid rejected.
Newcastle have been adamant that they don’t want to sell, but there’s been suggestions they could do so for £150m.
The situation has turned toxic as Isak has now gone public with his desire to leave, insisting that he will not play for Newcastle again. He believes that the club made promises that he could leave this summer, which have been broken. The Magpies insist no such promises were made.
Isak has very much been painted as the villain of the piece, looking to engineer the move to Liverpool as much as possible. That, though, hasn’t changed Olsen’s opinion of his international teammate.
_“I’m not familiar with it, so I don’t actually have much to say about it,”_ he said.
_“Not for me, absolutely not. He’s a very good friend so no, it’s nothing that affects our friendship,”_ he added when asked directly if it affects his image of him.
