Ayesha Curry is not living the life she dreamed of when she was younger.
The 36-year-old wife of Steph Curry and mother to their four children opened up on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast released Wednesday, Aug. 20 about her childhood ambitions and how her life has changed since.
“I didn't want kids. I didn't wanna get married. I thought I was gonna be a career girl and that's it,” Ayesha explained. “And I had my eyes set on my goals, and I was never the little girl that, like, dreamt about the wedding dress and all of that.”
Prior to starting her relationship with the future NBA star, Ayesha was planning on becoming an actress, even moving to Los Angeles after graduating high school early in an effort to kickstart her career.

Ayesha and Steph tied the knot in 2011 when she was 22. Host Alex Cooper asked her how she knew she was ready to take such a big step.
“I didn't,” she admitted. “I just knew that I loved him and I'd never experienced anything else. I'd never felt any differently than, like, this is who I wanna spend the rest of my life with. And so we kinda just dove in.”
Less than a year after the couple got married, they welcomed their daughter, Riley, now 13. Getting pregnant three months into her marriage to Steph was an unexpected experience.
“My OB said expect it to take up to a year. And so I'm like, in my head, I heard at least a year,” Ayesha explained. “I was thinking we were gonna be bar hopping. It's like, ‘Nope. You're pregnant and you're gonna be very, very sick.' ”
Despite the redirect, Ayesha said she’s very “grateful” for her family, adding, “I wouldn't change a thing, of course. But, yeah, it was not on my bingo card.”

As her world was changing, Ayesha said she didn’t have time to take stock of all that was happening around her.
“After we got married, we found out we were pregnant with our daughters so quickly I didn't even have time to think about what I wanted anymore,” she explained. “It's so interesting. I spent my entire life, like, trying to work towards something and then it kind of just disappeared and I didn't think twice about it.
Ayesha added, "But after my daughter turned 1, I remember there being a shift and being like, ‘I have goals for myself. Like, this doesn't feel right. I love being a mom, but I love doing other things too.’ “
The couple are also parents to daughter Ryan, 10, and sons Canon, 7, and Caius, 1.
While noting that she never expected Steph’s basketball career to take off, she recounted how “he said he wanted to be a high school basketball coach. I thought I was gonna be like the girl out there getting it. So I didn't know. And so it was weird.”

Ayesha also shared a terrifying fan encounter she had early on while breastfeeding Riley.
“I remember, like, one time right after my first was born, she was whiny,” she said, explaining that she went to nurse her daughter in the backseat of a car. “And Stephan was putting a bike or something in the trunk. And this woman, like, opens the car door and she sticks her head in and she's like, ‘I just wanted to see the baby!’ And I'm like, ‘Oh, oh, excuse me.’ And she looks me dead in my face and goes, ‘Oh, honey, you know what you signed up for.’ And then shuts the door on me.”
The incident proved to be very traumatic and upsetting for Ayesha who said she began crying due to her postpartum hormones.
“I was just bawling my eyes out and I'm like, ‘Is this what it's gonna be like? Wow.’ And so that the beginning phases were kinda scary for me,” she shared.
These days, Ayesha is focused on her business, Sweet July, in addition to being a mom of four. And her athlete husband is very involved in her work.
"It's so embarrassing... I feel like business talk is foreplay for us," Ayesha told PEOPLE in February. "Like, 'So what's going on in your world? What's going on in yours?' I love it. We literally bounce off of each other," adds Ayesha.
