Tottenham has engaged in a fierce battle with Manchester United in recent months.

The Red Devils failed to win a single game against the Lilywhites last season. The real kicker came in the UEFA Europa League final when Tottenham lifted the Cup on the night.

The two teams have since gone toe-to-toe in the transfer market. Both Premier League sides were keen on signing Bryan Mbuemo this summer. Tottenham thought they stood a chance with Thomas Frank’s appointment, but the winger had his heart set on United.

Now Man United looks to punish Spurs off the pitch once again.

United counter-suing Tottenham over Harry Kane sale

As reported by The Telegraph on Wednesday, 20 August, Ineos is counter-suing Tottenham for over £1million.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos has accused them of holding sponsorship talks with Audi linked to the sale of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

Kane joined Bayern in 2023 for an initial fee of £82m

This made him the most expensive transfer sale of all time at Tottenham

This comes after it was revealed that Spurs are suing Ineos for more than £11m over allegations it breached a five-year, minimum £17.5m deal signed in 2022. The club were expected to promote the firm’s Grenadier as their “official 4×4 vehicle partner”.

The contract was terminated on 11 March by the Lilywhites, who carried out legal action in June claiming Ineos failed to pay a £5m-plus annual instalment due on 1 December. This was after they had not paid an inflation-related figure of close to £500,000 earlier.

Daniel Levy’s side are also seeking a minimum of £5.2m in damages after the deal came to an end with over two years left.

Shockingly, the Lilywhites’ Total Revenue and Other income decreased to £528.2m, while their Profit from Operations increased to £144.9m.

After winning the Europa League and progressing to the UEFA Super Cup final, there is no doubt that Tottenham should experience a better financial year in 2025.

But for the upcoming season, Frank should focus on getting the most out of the UEFA Champions League run.
