Shedeur Sanders, rookie quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, is no doubt one of the most popular names in the team, despite being only drafted this year. Sanders created waves even during the draft process, bringing on a reputation of being ‘brash and arrogant’. As more and more naysayers called him out, Sanders’ popularity only kept soaring.
However, as per hardcore NFL pundits and gurus, Sanders’ celebrity status may end up hurting him in the long run. Colin Cowherd recently spoke about this exact topic and drew similarities with other athletes like Cam Newton and even Tim Tebow, who also faced the same issue.

“We’re getting into a Tebow situation, and this happens a lot. I’ve seen this in the NFL with Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick, Tim Tebow. Nobody wants a celebrity backup quarterback.” Colin Cowherd spoke about Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns in the latest episode of ‘The Herd’.

Shedeur Sanders has managed to prove that he is not just a popular name but also a great player in his preseason debut for the Cleveland Browns. Sanders opened the team’s preseason with a matchup against the Carolina Panthers, scoring an impressive two touchdowns for the team. In the team’s depth chart, Sanders is listed as QB4 and is currently in heavy competition with rookie Dillon Gabriel for a roster spot.
Shedeur Sanders Continues To Recover From Oblique Injury
Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders has plenty on his plate as he tries his best to recover from his oblique injury before the next preseason game. Because of his injury, Sanders was unable to play in the second preseason game, and rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel failed to score against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cleveland Browns will soon lock horns with the Los Angeles Rams for the third preseason game this weekend. Hopefully, Sanders will be seen in action on the field once more before the regular season starts. The Browns are scheduled to meet the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 to kick off the 2025 NFL campaign.
Shedeur Sanders is definitely one of the most interesting characters in the Cleveland Browns team and already has a huge fan base. However, his spot in the roster is still not confirmed according to head coach Kevin Stefanski’s recent statements. Stefanski hinted that one quarterback might have to leave the locker room and Sanders fans hope that it is not him.
